Migraine

Description:

Migraine headaches usually begin with extreme vasoconstriction in one side of the brain, which is followed by an extreme vasodilatation flooding the brain with blood causing pressure and resulting in excruciating pain. In addition to pain, the person may suffer from the perception of flashing lights or auras and in some cases hallucinations. There may also be sensitivity to light as well as nausea and vomiting.

Precautions:

In the throes of a migraine, massage is contraindicated. Massage may be used when the person is feeling better and can help to reduce the stress and anxiety that may influence the severity of discomfort.
