If I would like to begin receiving massages more frequently, how would I ask my massage therapist about receiving a discounted price?

I must ask this...have you asked your butcher, hair dresser/barber, etc for discounts because you continue to see them for regular service if their skill has remained the same quality? Your massage therapist has a special skill acquired from many hours/years of professional training. As a therapist myself, my skill/treatment delivered doesn't decrease as more service is given to a client. In the 12 years I've been in business there has never been a client ask for discounts for continued therapy and my schedule is full a year in advance.

You could ask if he or she offers any package promotions, or if pre-paying for a certain number of sessions provides a discount.

I became a massage therapist because I belive so strongly that massage can help the body to begin the healing process, reduce stress, manage pain and numberous other things.  Before becoming a massage therapist I was a nurses aide and witnessed first hand the incrediable need for loving touch.  I welcome my clients who come on a regular basis to work out a reduced payment plan so they are able to keep seeing me.  Several of my clients are coming for pain management.  They origianlly only could afford to come once a month.  Working together to reduce the cost I am now able to see them several times each month and be part of their health care team.

Good job, Colleen!  My daughter and I too, understand the need for a caring and loving touch by human beings as well as animals.  We have clients who have become extremely ill or who have lost jobs, etc during these trying economic times.
Even though we offer a "discounted package" for multiple sessions paid in advance, we understand that no everyone can afford to do this.  In that event, we sit down and discuss the client's financial situation as well as their massage needs and work out a plan to keep them coming in the door.
I would rather have multiple "discounted" regular clients coming in the door to "fill in"  where those  few "regular" priced clients that still only come once a month.
Check out the economy ladies and gentlemen...even though we are becoming more and more in the healthcare industry, we are still in the "disposable and discretionary income" sector.
I agree with Colleen on this one.  I  have done this with several clients. Let's face it, massage can be expensive especially several times a month.
Many people would not be able to get the help they need. I have found that the payoff is much greater than the money lost.
