I tend to carry my life with me in my pocketbook. I've heard that carrying a heavy bag can lead to muscle imbalances (my shoulder and back often ache on my right side...). Will a massage help me? What are some other suggestions?

Yes massage will definitely help but only temperarily if you continue to carry a heavy bag. If you must carry a lot with you, take your wallet out and just take it with you when you do shopping. If you have to have it with you for work and you have to carry long distance, let me recommend a small bag with wheels.

I am so excited that you have considered massage therapy to assist you in your healing prosses. During your first couple of sessions I would focus on releasing your tense muscles that are being affected. Under the assumtion that your life style will not change soon, I would recommend investing in a back pack that is on rollers or has two straps that should be adjusted to your body. Another thing you could to is give yoga a try. This will help balance your posture and strengthen weakend muscles. Wishing you all the best.
