My husband suffers from PTSD. Do you think massage would be a good part of his healing?

Massage therapy is an excellent addition to an overall treatment plan for sufferers of PTSD. Once a person is able to relax through massage, circulation improves, sleep patterns can return to normal, and a more relaxed patient is more open to other modalities.

Absolutely. Many years ago before I became a massage therapist I suffered from PTSD & Panic Disorder. I started seeing a massage therapist. At first I would get mini panic attacks while getting a massage but then my body started to let go of the "issues that were stored in my tissues", ( a famous massage therapist saying), I stopped having panic disorder and the remains of PTSD. It helped me so much that I became a Massage Therapist so that I can help others such as myself.

I have worked on clients who have had emotional release on my table... it is important for the therapist to know the client has this disorder and that the client feels free to stop the massage at any time if they start to have feelings of discomfort. I have gently worked through my clients issues and restored them to being vibrant, full of life human beings.

So, in my humble opinion, massage is one of the best therapies for emotional issues such as PTSD.

thank you for asking such an important question.
