I would consult with a Doctor and receive a note from them stating it is okay for the patient who has liver failure to receive massage therapy.  A complete health history should be taken by the massage therapist, and they will probably have questions to ask the patient.  Even if a a note from your Doctor is given, themassage therapist should know whether or not the specific condition will qualify for a massage.  There are many different forms of bodywork and what we call "modalities" that may be beneficial to each person regarding their health needs; even if they cannot receive what is commonly known as "Swedish Massage", they may be able to receive Nurturing Touch or other forms of massage therapy.  Check with your Doctor and your local massage therapist!  Ultimately more information would be known to determine what works best for your condition; with or without liver failure.
