I'm very insecure about my body and would feel more comfortable with a female therapist. Do I need to explain this when making the appointment?

You don't have to explain anything when you are making an appointment. When you call tell them you prefer a female therapist, ask for the therapists full name, then you can see what their specialities are. Our goal as therapists is make sure you feel safe and comfortable.

Most places will ask you if you have a preference. If they do not ask just let them know at the time of your booking to ensure you get the gender perference you want.
