I broke my leg a few months ago after slipping on some ice over the winter and my leg feels very stiff. Is there a certain amount of time I should wait before I get a massage?

As soon as your doctor gives you clearance for  a massage and you can handle manipulation you are ready for treatment. In most cases, depending on the injury, as soon as that cast is off you should be getting some form of bodywork.
It depends upon the area of fracture, and healing of broken bones. Clearance from from doctor is necessary, but what your mind appeals to you for massage.
Light massage with warm organic oils can be done to avoid more stiffening of muscles. There is no time formulation, that you can not take massage. Age plays a big role in union of bones. If you are able to keep your foot on ground with out pain, light massage can be started.

You can have massage done right away, however, when receiving massage, the practitioner should be sure that you are very stable on the table, and that the affectd area is immobilized.  As a shiatsu practitioner, I would have you face up on the table instead of the futon, and of course, there is no need to undress as shiatsu works with the vital energy (qi) instead of the skin.  The massage should be light and relaxing.  No "deep tissue" until the area is almost completely recovered.  Relaxing other areas of the body, including the mental aspects, is extremely important when recovering from trauma, as this allows for a shorter and more complete recovery time.
