Lymphedema

Description:

Lymphedema, or edema, is the build-up of interstitial fluid (fluid between cells) It can be caused by poor circulation or because of inflammation. It can be a result of surgery, renal failure or heart problems as well.

Precautions:

You need to find out the reason for fluid build-up. If the edema is caused by an injury, like a sprained ankle, massage can help the healing process. If the edema is cause by heart, renal or liver failure or by deep vein thrombosis, then massage is not advised.
