Respiratory Problems

Description:

Respiratory problems can come about for a number of reasons including lack of mobility or smoking. Conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and emphysema also cause repiratory problems, sometimes severe. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, congestion in the lungs and chest pain. Treatment is often prescribed medication or inhalation therapies.

Precautions:

Massage therapy administered on the chest and abdomen, including the diaphragm and intercostal (rib) muscles can help to increase breathing capacity. Tapotement on the upper back can help to loosen muscus and phlegm from the lungs and bronchial tubes. Massage should only be administered with the approval of a physician.
