Swelling

Description:

Any swelling or inflammation is a protective device in response to an injury or infection in the body. Symptoms include pain, swelling, redness, heat and possibly loss of function in the injured or affected area.

Precautions:

Any acute inflammation or swelling is a contraindication for circulatory massage. Massage should not be administered to anyone whose inflammation is due to infection. Massage may be appropriate for certain sub-acute conditions.
