Tendonitis
Description:
Tendonitis is an injury to and inflammation of tendons. They most commonly occur at the tenoperiosteal or musculotendinous junctions. Symptoms are similar to, but usually more intense than with a muscle strain. There may be swelling, pain and stiffness in the injured or affected area. (see also strains)
Precautions:
Massage may be administered to a client with tendonitis. Lymph drainage techniques can help to reduce inflammation. Massage may also be useful in reducing adhesions and edema and influencing the production of collagen fibers.
