Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Description:
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a collection of symptoms caused by the obstruction of nerves and blood supply to the arm. Symptoms may include shooting pain, weakness, numbness, tingling and possible discoloration because of impaired circulation.
Precautions:
The cause of the pain should be determined before proceeding with any massage. Pain caused by muscle tightness can usually be treated with massage, but the client's physician should be consulted first. Pain caused by spondylosis or a herniated disc will not respond well to massage.
