Cystic Fibrosis

A chronic, progressive, inherited disease of the glands that produce sweat and mucus affecting primarily the respiratory, digestive and reproductive tracts in children and young adults which can lead to life-threatening lung infections and serious digestive problems.

As an adjunct therapy massage can help with the draining of mucus in the lungs as well as help to enhance the immune system. Massage also helps to reduce anxiety caused by the disorder's discomfort. Massage should not be administered without special instruction in the pathology of cystic fibrosis.
