Diverticulosis/Diverticulitis
Description:
Diverticulosis is the development of small bulges, or pouches in the colon. Diverticulitis in the inflammation that results if those pouches become infected. There is abdominal pain in the lower left side with diverticulitis as well as cramping and bloating. The person may suffer from both constipation and/or diarrhea.
Precautions:
Deep abdominal work is contraindicated in a person with diverticulitis or if the person is suffering from any acute abdominal pain or inflammation. No massage should be administered if the client has fever, chills or nausea.
