Hypotension
Description:
Hypotension is low blood pressure. It may be caused by poor circulation or may be a side effect of certain medications. Side effects may include light-headedness upon standing and fainting.
Precautions:
As with any circulatory problems, the cause of hypotension needs to be determined by a physician. In hypotension caused by medication, massage may increase the effects of the medication. Assistance should be given in helping a client with low blood pressure off the table.
