Lyme Disease
Description:
Lyme disease is an infection caused by the bite of a particular kind of tick carrying the Lyme bacteria. Symptoms can include a "bull's-eye" rash accompanied by flu-like symptoms including fever, fatigue and joint pain. If left untreated it can lead to poor coordination, numbness, Bell's Palsy and cardiovascular symptoms such as an irregular heartbeat.
Precautions:
During the acute phase of Lyme disease massage would be contraindicated. During subacute stages massage may be used to maintain joint function and for the relief of muscular pain.
