Muscle Spasm
Description:
A muscle spasm is a sudden and involuntary contraction of a muscle or muscle group. It often causes pain and discomfort. A muscle spasm can occur after an injury or exercise. Muscle spasms can also be caused by nutritional deficiencies, dehydration, a nervous system condition or an imbalance in electrolytes or salt in the body. Eating a healthy diet, stretching before exercising and getting a regular massage can help to reduce spasms.
Precautions:
Massage can help to reduce muscle spasms. If left untreated repeated muscles spasms can lead to knotty area or trigger points which are harder to deal with.
