Osteoarthritis
Description:
Osteoarthritis is the irritation and inflammation of synovial joints, especially those that are weight-bearing. It is primarily caused by the wear and tear of the joint structures and is the most common form of arthritis. Symptoms include inflammation, pain and stiffness of joints.
Precautions:
Any arthritis in an acute stage contraindicates massage as it may increase inflammation. Chronic osteoarthritis generally responds well to massage, easing pain and helping to retain range of motion.
