Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome
Description:
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSDS) is usually the result of an initial trauma which causes pain that is more severe and longer lasting than would normally be expected. It may involve redness, heat, burning pain and discoloration of skin.
Precautions:
Most people with RSDS have little or no tolerance for touch and care needs to be taken to have effective communication with the client as to the best massage technique for the situation.
