I’m Tina Tongen LMT, AOS, CYT, Licensed Massage Therapist in Florida (MA97820) and Colorado (MT.11470) with an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies and Yoga Teacher Certification. ... My appreciation for being human has blossomed within communities I've been part of in Colorado from 2008 - 2021. Connected by the beautiful mountains, prairies, and forests, the Boulder-Denver area thrives with a community-mindedness and focus on physical, emotional, and environmental health. It's great training grounds for a yoga-informed massage therapist and movement teacher, and I've had the pleasure of working with many wonderful health practitioners, athletes, business owners, and other members of the community who have helped me to grow as a person and continue to inspire me. ... I've returned to Tallahassee in June 2021, full-circle in my journey that began in 2008 when I went to visit a yoga community in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado. Seven months of daily meditation and chanting, living, and working within the Shoshoni Yoga community was so good for me. I began practicing Ayurvedic healing therapies and left with a 200-hr Shambhava Yoga Teacher Certification in 2009. ... This set me up to follow my heart, and I continued to connect with supportive communities to grow my skills. I earned my 1000-hr Certification in Massage Therapy at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in 2010, then graduated with an advanced degree in Orthopedic Massage Therapy in 2011. I continued my studies with Whitney Lowe (Orthopedic), then was invited into a community of bodyworkers focused on developing the spiritual and transcendent qualities of massage, harkening back to being carried in the womb, surrounded by an ocean of Universal Love. I trained and practiced with the Institute for Phenomenal Touch (Leslie Bruder) for 4 years. Most recently I've returned to a deepening study of Neuromuscular and Trigger Point Therapy to resolve pain patterns in the body. As humans, we're both science and spirit, individual and collective, and the Boulder community provided ample opportunities for me to develop these perspectives personally and interpersonally; among other things, I practiced embodied meditation with the Diamond Approach within the Ridhwan School for 6 years, attended weekly groups on authentic relating, and non-violent communication (NVC grew out of Marshall Rosenberg’s mediation work). In 2016 I entered the real-life school of a committed relationship. I'm grateful for my previous trainings that developed my capacity to be more present with myself so that I may show up more fully within partnership. ... I love that 2021 has brought me home, and I get to ground in and nourish my roots with my family. I look forward to supportive awareness continuing to grow as I connect with others and offer healing work here in Tallahassee. ...
